Dave McKeehan has over 30 years experience in Advanced Technology Product Development, Manufacturing and Business Management in semiconductors, Aerospace & Defense, precision optical and motion control systems, and real-time embedded software industries.
He has led business teams ranging from a few people, to hundreds across multiple continents. Dave has worked in several smaller companies (80-125 people) and in large corporations (30,000+).
Small Business Assessment: Dave has provided leadership to many organizations, large and small in assessing their capabilities, strengths and weaknesses. He was a certified Software Process Maturity Assessment leader at the Software Engineering Institute. He led assessments of internal product development teams and key subcontract factories during his 18 years at Texas Instruments. More recently he conducted small manufacturing business assessments in southern Arizona as the Deputy Director of the Arizona Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MEP).
Business Growth: Dave has led the development and implementation of business growth and productivity improvement programs in many large and small companies around the world, and in southern Arizona. He has worked with both large, Fortune 100 companies, and with companies with in the 5-40 employee size, helping them to develop solid growth plans in areas like: business expansion, product development, manufacturing and workforce development.
Product Development: Dave has managed product development teams around the world, developing software, complicated optical and precision motion control systems, electronics and semiconductors. He has taught and developed people to become excellent program managers, and developed cost effective product lifecycle management processes for small and large organizations.
Quality: Dave led a worldwide quality organization focused on customer quality issues and resolution. As a part of this, he has assessed many organizations Quality Management systems, conducted numerous ISO and other quality audits, led and coached company leaders on how to improve their quality, responsiveness, and reduce quality related costs at the same time.
Metrics Development and Implementation: Dave has guided many organizations on successful development and use of business, productivity and quality metrics. While at Texas Instruments, Dave led the conversion of key subcontract manufacturing sites to strong, solid SPC programs and the development of Data-Driven Cultures.
Mergers & Acquisitions: Dave has been directly involved in six different Merger & Acquisition activities, including two where he was selling a business and four on the purchasing side.
Managing Change: No growth or productivity improvement program can succeed if the people involved do not address how the changes are introduced and managed throughout the organization. Dave is a certified trainer and leader of change management programs under the IMA program, and has taught and coached many organization through basic change management strategies and tactics as part of successful growth and improvement programs.
Dave is currently retired and providing consulting services to small businesses in the Tucson area through his firm, Bear Canyon Consulting.
